At the start of each appointment, you will complete questionnaires so that we can monitor your response to prescribed medications.
Medications can be a highly effective treatment for managing psychiatric conditions. Before starting any patient on a medication, Dr. Allen will always review “brain basics” with you. She will discuss:
- the pros and cons of each medication option
- how the medication exerts its action in the body
- how long it will take for the medication to take effect, and
- any laboratory testing that may need to be monitored while you are on the medication.
All of this is done so that you can truly make an informed decision before consenting to starting or changing a medication.
